Walk: Rydal, Low Sweden Bridge, Low Pike, High Pike, Dove Crag, Hart Crag, Fairfield, Great Rigg, Heron Pike, Nab Scar, Rydal
Start Point: Rydal Road Grid Ref: NY 364 062
Distance:  10 miles Ascent:  3,500 feet
Weather: A wet and dull start but brightening up later

Comments: A busy route despite the weather which improved after we had left Fairfield.

Just past High Sweden Bridge we get a good view of Nab Scar and our return route

 

A little further on the unmistakable profile of the Langdale Pikes comes into view

 

In another direction we can see Loughrigg and the Coniston Fells

 

The weather starts to close in with mist creeping over Red Screes

 

Time for the waterproofs

 

By the afternoon the weather has improved and we can see Grisedale Tarn

 

Mist is still hovering over Helvellyn

 

A horseshoe of caravans at Grasmere

 

Heron Pike with Windermere to its left . . .

 

and on to Nab Scar

 

Loughrigg Cave . . .

 

and the clear scar of Loughrigg Terrace
