Walk: Spring Wood, Read Hall, Simon's Cross, Hodgeon Stone Plantation, Golf Course
Start Point: Spring Wood car park, Whalley Grid Ref: SD 740 360
Distance: 6.5 miles Ascent: 1,200 feet
Weather: A light drizzle for most of the walk
Accompanied by:

Joe and Beth

Comments: The weather forecast had been a good one but we soon had to put waterproof coats on as a light drizzle persisted for most of the day. Just as we started looking for a suitable place for elevenses we found a bench with an umbrella - just what we needed to shelter from the drizzle. Much of the route was through fields and we soon found that our footwear wasn't waterproof! As we were beginning to think about a stop for lunch we found a collapsed wall with a good view and even the weather improved for a short time. Suitably refreshed we continued and were later treated to the spectacle of a helicopter taking off close by.

Read Hall

An ideal spot for elevenses

A picturesque display

An old iron stile . . .

and again

You can just see the helicopter we were waving to

Who's that crossing over MY bridge?

I wonder if this is the helicopter we saw earlier?

We waited until it took off . . .

and headed off

Our car has multiplied!

We are ready for a rest
