On my own

Comments: Heading up through the terraced gardens I took the shorter route to the Pike, walking above the Japanese Garden. From the Pike I took the sometimes boggy path across to Winter Hill. On reaching the TV mast I found that there was a temporary detour in place, taking you right around the far side of all the masts. After the initial section, which was flagged, this detour was boggy and not pleasant to walk on. After visiting the trig point I followed the track to the last mast then went to the right of it. From here there was a rough, steep path descending diagonally across the hill, followed by very boggy sections that involved many small detours and careful placing of feet. I then walked along the Belmont Road (bridleway) and back to the car.
