Walk: Grasmere (A591 lay-by), Mill Bridge, Tongue Gill, Brackenwife Knotts, Stone Arthur
Start Point: A591 lay-by Grid Ref: NY 338 085
Distance: 3.75 miles Ascent: 1,500 feet
Weather: A dull day with low mist and some drizzle
Accompanied by:

Marie, Andrea, Gill and Shep

Comments: Having abandoned our original plans to climb Helvellyn, because of low mist, we decided to do a short walk to Stone Arthur and then spend some time in Ambleside. After walking up to the footbridge over Tongue Gill, we took a path South to South-West across Brackenwife Knotts and on to Stone Arthur. We then descended by the main route, emerging onto the A591.

The Helm Crag ridge and Far Easedale

It looks a little brighter in Grasmere now but the cloud base is still low

Could this be Stone Arthur?
