Walk: Little Town, Hause Gate, Maiden Moor, High Spy, Dale Head Tarn, Dale Head, Robinson, High Snab Bank
Start Point: Little Town car park Grid Ref: NY 233 914
Distance: 9.6 miles Ascent: 3,300 feet
Weather: A damp day with mist on the fell tops
Accompanied by:

John D (leader), Marie, Ray, Ian, Tony, John, Keith

Comments: The path from Little Town to Hause Gate was an easy one to get up on to the ridge. Low cloud hung over the whole area and we quickly ascended into mist. We did get some views from Hindscarth Edge and on the way to Robinson but these were tantalising glimpses of what we should have been seeing. There were some tricky parts as we descended over High Nab Bank but at least by then we had some good views.

Waterfall in Yewthwaite Gill . . .

as we climb up . . .

towards Hause Gate

It looks even steeper as we look back

Cloud hangs over the whole area . . .

and closes in on us on Maiden Moor . . .

where the group has a quick chat

before continuing on to High Spy

Crossing the beck near Dale Head Tarn . . .

which looks quite atmospheric in the mist

A steep climb brings us to Dale Head . . .

and we clear the mist as we descend to Hindscarth Edge . . .

where we can just see the edges of Blencathra

Clear views as we descend over High Snab Bank . . .

but the reservoir looks a long way down . . .

in the valley

Not far to go now . . .

and Ian spots a Rowan tree full of berries

Looking back Robinson is still in mist on the right

Is this a church or school?

I think it might be used as both
