Comments: After walking past the Visitors Centre we were surprised to find a woodland area with a playground and tables. Much too early to stop for a break we continued along the path to the foot of Billinge Hill. With a variety of possible paths through the woodland we eventually found our way to the summit, which had a convenient bench for a brief stop. From here we headed through the car park and along the Witton Weavers Way past Butler's Delf. The path then took us on to meet the River Darwen where part of the path was closed because of subsidence alongside the river bank. There was no great difficulty in getting past the affected area and we were soon heading through fields and along tracks to Pleasington. A brief walk around the Priory revealed a building worth exploring when we didn't have muddy boots on! From here it was a relatively short walk to Butler's bridge and pas the playing fields of Witton Park.

Unfortunately I had forgotten my camera so there are no photos of this walk.
