Walk: Beacon Hill, Grindleton Fell, The Wife, Old Ned, Fell Side, Skelshaw, Harrop Hall, Harrop Lodge, Little Cross
Start Point: Roadside 2 miles north of Grindleton Grid Ref: SD 756 486
Distance: 10.7 miles Ascent: 1,470
Weather: Overcast with a cold breeze
Accompanied by:

On my own

Comments: The early part of the walk was quite enjoyable but afterwards there was quite a lot of stony farm track and some difficult places to navigate. The route through Harrop Lodge was impassable so I changed the route and returned to the car via the road. Not a route I would wish to repeat.

A very new looking Pinewood

Impressive gates at the edge of the plantation

The wife . . .

and Old Ned, disappointing piles of stones that may possibly mark ancient burial grounds

A sunken gate - not easy to navigate

Harrop Lodge

An impressive outdoor entertaining area at Little Cross
