Walk: Rivington Pike, Winter Hill, Two Lads Hill, Wilderswood, River Douglas
Start Point: Rivington Hall Barn drive Grid Ref: SD 632 143
Distance: 6.4 miles Ascent: 1,070 feet
Weather: Dry Time: 3 hours
Comments: Today I headed directly up the steps through the terraced gardens to reach the Pigeon Tower. After making my way to Rivington Pike I decided to head directly across to Winter Hill and was pleased to find that it wasn't as boggy as I thought it would have been. A tarmac road took me quickly to the Two Lads cairns where I stopped for lunch. From here I headed south-east to meet the path across Wilder's Moor. After a short stretch through Wilderswood I made my way past Ormston's Farm and crossed the River Douglas via the footbridge. From here it was a straightforward walk through Rivington Country Park and back to the car.

Straight up the steps and under the arch . . .

Not much of a waterfall considering all the rain we have had recently

The triple arches lead to . . .

Underneath the arches . . .

some of which have been filled in . . .

with slabs of concrete containing pigeon holes

The huge rocks ensure that no-one drives down this route

Another of the many views I have taken of Rivington Pike
