Walk: Apronfull Hill, Scout Cairn, Pendle Hill, Barley, Ogden Reservoirs, Ogden Clough, Deerstones
Start Point: Sabden car park Grid Ref: SD 779 373
Distance: 12 miles Ascent: 2,370 feet
Weather: Dry with a cold wind Time: 5.75 hours
Comments: Having decided on a specific route, all changed when I approached Sabden and found that the road to the Nick of Pendle was closed. Undeterred I used the Sabden car park and changed the route at the start and end of the walk and also found a new path from Howcroft Brook to the Scout Cairn. By the time I reached the cairn a bitter wind was blowing and any shelter from the wind was also out of the sun! After very brief coffee stop I continued on to the trig point before dropping down to Barley. Passing the Village Cafe the advert for a Barley Cream Tea was just too inviting - and it was certainly worth stopping for. Continuing through the village I then headed past the reservoirs and into Ogden Clough. Eventually leaving the clough behind I joined the outward path before detouring across to Deerstones and back to the car.
