Walk: Clitheroe Road, Mearley Moor, Scout Cairn, Hookcliffe Plantation, Pendle Hill, Barley, Spence Moor
Start Point: Clitheroe Road, Sabden Grid Ref: SD 775 380
Distance: 14 miles Ascent: 3,300 feet
Weather: Intermittent sun and cloud Time: 6.5 hours
Comments: At last, a good weather forecast for the day so time to plan a decent walk! Starting from the surfaced car park just above Sabden, I followed an unmarked path from the cattle grid higher up the road. The path is quite clear on the ground and makes a good alternative to the stony track from Nick of Pendle.  I then made my way to the Scout Cairn via Mearley Moor - another alternative to the main route. Descending over Worston Moor I turned north west to reach Hookcliffe Plantation then climbed back up onto Pendle Hill and on to the summit. After descending to Barley I walked up to Lower Ogden Reservoir then turned to walk south of Fell Wood. From here it was a gradual climb over Spence Moor before descending past Deerstones and returning through Sabden.
