Walk: Lower Rivington Reservoir, Wilderswood, White Brow, Walker Fold, Smithills Moor, Winter Hill. Noon Hill, Rivington Pike, Japanese Water Garden
Start Point: Rivington Great Barn Grid Reference: SD 628 138
Distance: 11 miles Ascent: 2,000 feet
Time: 5 hours
Weather: Cloudy with sun developing in the afternoon
Comments: Trying out some new footpaths I was disappointed in what I found. Walker Fold was almost impassible with a broken stile and nettles covering the path - I had cropped trousers on!! It was evident that this and the folowing sections of footpath haven't been used much recently. The route from Walker Fold Farm to Giligant's Farm was also little used and not easy in places. A future walk in this area would need to find an alternative way.
