Walk: Rake How, Bridge House, Old Coach Road, Clough Head, Calfhow Pike, Great Dodd, Sticks Pass, Stanah
Start Point: Legburthwaite car park Grid Reference: NY 318 195
Distance: 12.5 miles Ascent: 3,550 feet
Time: 7 hours
Weather: Dry with a cold wind and snow on the high ground.
Comments: With a reasonable forecast we were hoping for a good day and were pleasantly surprised at the clear views made all the better with the covering of snow at high levels - and even a touch of blue sky. The climb to Clough Head was longer than I remembered - probably due to the fact that this was the first harder walk of the year - need to get fitter!!

St Johns in the Vale . . .

with views to Blencathra

Skiddaw peeps up behind Skiddaw Little Man with Lonscale Fell to the right . . .

and another view of Skiddaw shows that it is covered in snow

I hope vehicles take notice of the sign . . .

as the Old Coach Road . . .

has some deeply eroded sections that will only be made worse with use

Les and Lesley make their way up the long climb . . .

to the hause beside White Pike . . .

on our way to Clough Head - our lunch stop

A short pause on Calfhow Pike as we make our way to . . .

Great Dodd . . .

which is quite clear of snow

Making our way off Great Dodd . . .

the ridge to the south has a good snow covering . . .

and it is the first time we have seen the ski run in use

Stanah Beck provides a good opportunity . . .

to test out different shots before returning to the cars
