Walk: Penny Rock Woods, Grasmere shore, Red Bank, Loughrigg Fell summit, main footpath, Fox How, River Rothay footpath, Rydal Water
Start Point: White Moss car park Grid Reference: NY 350 065
Distance: 7.7 miles Ascent: 1,364 feet
Time: 4 hours
Weather: Mild with sunny spells, ideal for walking.
Comments: With a promise of decent weather we took the opportunity for a visit to the Lake District. Roads were very busy but we had, unfortunately, coincided with the Sheepdog Trials and Hound Show at Rydal Park. After visiting the summit trig point we chose the main footpath across the ridge and enjoyed great views in all directions. Returning along the Under Loughrigg Road we were surprised to find an ice cream cart - very welcome.
