|Walk:||Spring Wood, Whalley, Nab Wood, River Calder, Cock Bridge, Read Park, Read Old Bridge, Portfield, Clerk Hill|
|Start Point:||Whalley Spring Wood||Grid Reference:||SD 740 360|
|Distance:||6.4 miles||Ascent:||930 feet|
|Weather:||Overcast with some sunny spells|
|Comments:||I've started from Spring Wood many times but have never walked through the wood itself. It is larger than expected and well worth a visit. This walk was from Country Walking and the instructions were clear though the start point information is completely wrong.|
The walk through Spring Wood . . .
is more interesting than expected . . .
particularly with the sun breaking through the trees
Parish Church of St Mary and All Saints which dates from the 13th century
The River Calder looking south to Whalley viaduct . . .
and looking north
The River Calder again en route to Cock Bridge
