All the airports in England re-opened overnight but we didn't know whether we would be able to leave or if we would have to move to another hotel. After moving to the airport, and some confusion as to what was happening, we were informed that some people had been booked on flights but that others were on stand-by. As it turned out, our group and another group of Ramblers, were booked on the 8.15pm and 9.15pm flights. All costs, except evening meals, were dealt with by Ramblers Holidays and BA were very quick to reimburse the cost of the evening meal.
I have great respect for the people at Ramblers Holidays who spent their time booking individual seats on the flights as they became available. The quality of the hotel provided for the extra time spent in South Africa could not have been better.
