Six Villages

Saturday, 1st June 2013

Distance: 10 miles
Total Ascent: 1,963 feet
Total Descent: 3,325 feet
Maximum Altitude: 4,711 feet
Time: 6.5 hours
Weather: Sunny all day

Walking straight from the hotel we headed downhill, initially following a narrow path, to reach Bubión, the middle of the three villages in this area. From Bubión we climbed a zig zag path to reach a ridge where some rock slabs provided an ideal spot for a break. It was then a short walk to the base of Pena Del Angel, a small rocky peak which involved some scrambling. After a short stop for photos at the summit we made our way back down to rejoin the rest of the group. A contouring path took us on to Capilerilla, followed by Pitres where met the other group as we ate lunch. Following mule paths into the valley we passed through Atalbeitar, Busquistar, Ferreirola/Fondales, Mecinilla and Mecina where we again met the other group and enjoyed refreshments as we waited for our transport back to the hotel.
