Walk: Troutbeck Bridge, Robin Lane, Jenkin Crag, Ambleside, Stockghyll Force, Wansfell Pike, Wansfell, Nanny Lane, Troutbeck Bridge
Start Point: Church Bridge, Troutbeck Grid Ref: NY 412 026
Distance:  7.5 miles Ascent:  2,200 feet
Weather: A cold but mainly dry day
Accompanied by:

Joe, Beth & Marie, led by me

Comments: There are some very good views of Windermere but it wasn't clear enough today to get good photos. We called into Ambleside to get some overtrousers for Joe. He struggled with the climb up to Wansfell Pike but it turned out that he couldn't have been completely well as he was off school for the rest of the week. We had lunch in the shelter of the wall on Wansfell Pike and it was really cold when we continued on to Baystones.

Scroll down to see photos of the walk

We enjoyed some sun at the start of the walk . . .

and the children chose some wall remains to pose for a photo

Stockghyll Force . . .

provides a good opportunity for another photo . . .

and Beth just loves posing!

But she didn't know I was taking this one on the climb to Wansfell Pike

Joe is feeling the pressure of the climb . . .

but enjoys seeing how far he has climbed so far

The bridge provides a good spot for a rest . . .

and a vantage point for looking down on Ambleside

Baystones (Wansfell) at last but we are feeling the cold here . . .

and it is quite windy
