Walk: Armboth, Armboth Fell, High Tove, High Seat, Bleaberry Fell, Walla Crag, Raven Crag
Start Point: Lay-by 0.6 mls North of Armboth car park Grid Reference: NY 306 181
Distance: 12.1 miles Ascent: 3,054 feet
Time: 7.5 hours
Weather: Light showers initially developing into a sunny afternoon
Comments: With all the rain of previous days we were expecting quite a lot of boggy ground - and we weren't disappointed! However, it was possible to navigate all the boggy areas and certainly tested out the boots. Following previous experiences a wide berth was made of the Pewits while keeping an eye out for the tell-tale sphagnum moss. Reaching High Seat the worst of the boggy area had been traversed and we were able to enjoy a well-earned coffee stop. Bleaberry Fell seems to have lost its cairn next to the shelter - both are shown in photographs on other websites! Walla Crag saw a change in the weather and it remained sunny for the rest of the day. The sting in the tail was the climb up to Raven Crag after dropping down almost to the Dale Bottom - a climb of just over 1,00 feet. However, the group seemed to agree that the effort was worth it  - the views from the top were magnificent.

The first of the showers starts as we take advantage of the toilets at the Armboth car park

Heading up Fisher Gill . . .

and eventually crossing the beck - no problem compared to last week!

Phil enjoys reaching Armboth Fell - High Seat is to the right

Reaching High Tove it's hard to decide whether to keep the waterproofs on or not

We reach High Tove at the same time as a group of young people . . .

but they soon leave the summit . . .

and we find a sheltered spot for elevenses

A lone tree on the way to Bleaberry Fell

Looking across to Blencathra from the path to Bleaberry Fell

Someone has pinched the cairn - you can see where it used to be on the right

John and Ian check out the view over Keswick . . .

and are soon joined by the rest of the group . . .

but the view from Walla Crag is even better

Cat Bells is highlighted by the sun, with the Ard Crags, Causey Pike and Grisedale Pike ridges to the right

Posing for the camera on Walla Crag

A sunny spot for lunch - and Ian shows of his pork pie . . .

while Debbie eyes up Clough Head and Great Dodd

Watch out for the ambush!

The farmer has turned his fields into daisy meadows - Blencathra in the background . . .

and in the opposite direction we can see Raven Crag,  our next summit, in the centre

Finding our way through the bracken - shoulder height at times!

Shoalthwaite Gill - the valley is inviting but we go into the forest here

Finally on Raven Crag - and a perfect spot for views . . .

looking South down Thirlmere . . .

directly down to the dam . . .

across to Blencathra and Clough Head . . .

and across to the Helvellyn range

The group prepares to leave . . .

and a sharp descent soon brings us below Raven Crag . . .

and back down to the road followed by a short trek to the cars
