Walk: | Throstlerake Crags, Moor Gill, Black Combe, Charley Fold, Butcher's Breast, Whitbeck
Start Point: | Large lay-by off A595 south of Townend Hall | Grid Ref: | SD 120 837 |
Distance: | 7.25 miles | Ascent: | 2,000 feet |
Weather: | Started out sunny and hot but became damp with mist on the summit
Accompanied by: |
Marie, Andrea, Gill and Shep |
||
Comments: | After the initial climb through bracken we eventually joined the main route from Whicham. From here it was a clear route to the summit but by this time the temperature had dropped and the thick mist hid the Blackcombe Screes. Heading down a pleasant grassy path the weather cleared and we had some views along the coast. |

The early drizzle has stopped and the sun has come out has we prepare to start the walk
Climbing up through bracken we have a good view of the coast . . .
and eventually reach a wide green path
But we have climbed into the mist . . .
and it is very cold on the summit
The weather clears as we descend and . . .
we follow a very pleasant green path as we check out the coastal views
One of the becks crossed on the way down
