| Comments: | I have done this route a number of time but always climbing Place Fell first. Today I decided to do it the opposite way round, partly to explore other routes onto Hallin Fell from Hallinhag Wood. The lakeside path was easy to complete so early in the walk and there were some good views to be had on the way. Climbing up from Hallinhag Wood I continued further along the wall than usual and found an alternative path to take me to the summit. With the sun showing its face for a time there the views over Ullswater were great. Descending towards the Hause I then made my way across to Sandwick. The climb up to Sleet Fell is steep in places but puts you quickly onto the ridge. The path climbs gradually to Place Fell and by the time I reached the last ascent I was beginning to feel the effects of doing the walk this way round. After a brief stop at the summit it looked like some weather was heading across from Brothers Water but fortunately this cleared and the sun was out again before I reached Boredale Hause. A stony descent took me down to cross Goldrill Beck and back to the car. | ||
