Walk: Tongue Gill, Great Tongue, Seat Sandal, Grisedale Hause, Fairfield, Great Rigg, Stone Arthur, Greenhead Gill
Start Point: Lay-by, A591 Grasmere Grid Reference: NY 403 133
Distance: 7.5 miles Ascent: 3,300 feet
Time: 4.75 hours
Weather: Sunny with a cool breeze on the fell tops
Comments: A fantastic day for a great walk. Taking a route up the flanks of Seat Sandal was quite tough and made the climb onto Fairfield seem much easier. Views across to the Coniston fells were very clear making it possible to name a number of Wainwright summits.

Tongue Gill, before we leave the road . . .

to head up Great Tongue . . .

where there are great views back down the valley

Taking a break on Seat Sandal . . .

before heading down to . . .

Grisedale Tarn, looking rather like an infinity pool

A steep climb takes us up to Fairfield - with St Sunday Crag to the right

Windermere comes into view . . .

as we take time out for some photos . . .

on Great Rigg

Time for more 'doggy' photos . . .

above Riggs Crags . . .

before heading down to Stone Arthur . . .

and eventually reaching . . .

Greenhead Gill

A beautiful display . . .

of rhodedendron flowers . . .

demands our attention . . .

and a closer view . . .

Helm Crag as we head back to the cars
