Challenge: | At the start of the year I spotted a challenge in the Country Walking magazine, to complete 1,000 miles by the end of 2021. This target was achieved in August so I set another target of 500 miles by the end of the year. This was achived just before Christmas Day.
Start Point: | Mainly from home and in the local area
Distance: | 1,520 miles | Ascent: | 112,900 feet |
Time: | 527 hours | ||
Weather: | Some very cold spells, some very wet spells intermixed with changeable conditions.
Comments: | Already a keen walker, looking after my daughter's dog 3 or 4 days a week ensured that I did 2 walks every day. This meant that it was quite easy to achieve an average of more than 4 miles a day. A week's walking holiday and a few longer walks further afield made up for the odd days that I didn't walk. Below are a selection of photos taken during the year. |
