Walk: | Just getting back to longer walks after a knee injury in January. Stonyhurst Observatories, Hodder Place, River Hodder, Woodfields, Stonyhurst College | ||
Start Point: | Hurst Green Village Hall car park | Grid Reference: | SD 684 382 |
Distance: | 4 miles | Ascent: | 387 feet |
Time: | 1.5 hours | ||
Weather: | Sunny spells | ||
Comments: | After all the wet weather the fields are still rather muddy but the rest of the footpaths are good. The bluebell banking I was looking for wasn't on this route so I'll have to do some further exploration. |
Pendle Hill comes into view . . .
on the way to Hodder Place . . .
and beside the River Hodder
Luna finds a small clump of bluebells . . .
before reaching the higher footpath
The cherry blosson enhances the observatory
A heron poses across the water . . .
keeping watch in both directions . . .
before flying to the other side . . .
of the neighbouring lake
A goose crosses the road . . .
and seems to be stepping out . . .
to meet another one . . .
where it shows off its wings
Looks like they are heading off together . . .
but then decide to go in opposite directions!
