Walk: Mainly following the Tolkien Trail, a circular route taking in: The Shireburn, Ribble Way, Jumbles Rocks, Winckley Hall, Lower Hodder Bridge, Ribble Way, Hodder Place, Stonyhurst College.
Start Point: Hurst Green Village Hall Grid Reference: SD 684 381
Distance: 7 miles Ascent: 468 feet
Time: 3 hours
Weather: Sunny and hot
Comments: The first walk that Beth and I have done with Barnaby and Luna. It was a hot day for two black dogs but they seemed to have a great time together - and were really well behaved.

Beth and Barnaby beside the aquaduct . . .

but in 2008 it was Beth and Joseph

At Jumbles Rocks . . .

Luna and Barnaby pose . . .

with encouragement from Beth

The footpath used to go straight ahead - hence the very clear sign for the new route

The confluence of the Hodder on the left and the Ribble on the right, becoming the River Ribble

The tree has always intrigued me . . .

and Beth thinks it's the ideal place for Brnaby to pose . . .

but Luna can't wait to get off it!!
