Walk: Shireburn, Ribble Way, Lower Hodder Bridge, River Hodder, Woodfields, Stonyhurst
Start Point: Hurst Green Memorial Hall Grid Reference: SD 684 382
Distance: 7.1 miles Ascent: 601 feet
Time: 3.75 hours
Weather: A very misty and cold start eventually becoming sunny and warmer
Comments: Walking the same route as on 13th October in the opposte direction the aim today was to walk in an anti clockwise direction and to extend the route to Birdy Brow. After climbing to the crossin Hacking Wood we found that the route wasn't safe to continue on so returned to the Tolkien Trail and Stonyhurst.

What used to be a very muddy descent now has much easier steps

The artificial grass makes walking much easier . . .

and was first seen on 14th June 2022

A misty River Ribble . . .

where the stones can be seen . . .

near Jumbles Rocks

Hodder Place, a Grade 11 listed building now divided into flats

A steep set of steps leads up to . . .

a distinctive stone cross but we return down the steps . . .

to continue on the Tolkien Trail . . .

up and up . . .

more and more steps . . .

then through the woods
