Comments: | From Moor Road the section through woodland was very muddy but emerging from the trees there was a great view of the reservoir. Walking alongside Yarrow Reservoir I found a carved face - only spotted because someone else was taking a photo. On the return path the woodland section from Heapey Fold Lane to Moor Road was almost impassable until I found a parallel footpath nearer to the water. Unfortunately the footpath from Moor Road to White Coppice Farm was blocked by a gate chained and padlocked. This route still has a yellow waymarker in place but I had to retrace my footsteps and return along Stronstrey Bank, adding a mile to my route. |

Anglezarke Reservoir . . .
followed by . . .
some very pleasant woodland
Yarrow Reservoir looking across to Rivington Pike . . .
and across to Winter Hill
I was told that there used to be three of these carved faces but that only one is now left
The overflow from Yarrow Reservoir . . .
looked very different in 2011 . . .
Looking up from the road compared to . . .
in 2016
The overflow would take water into . . .
Anglezarke reservoir
Waterman's Cottage is a Tudor-style structure also known as Heapey Cottage
Nearly back BUT . . .
the gate is padlocked . . .
and definitely not for opening . . .
so despite the waymarker I retrace my steps and return by my outward path.
