Walk: Osbaldeston, Park Gate, Osbaldeston Hall, River Ribble, Dobridding Wood, Mercyfield Wood, Balderstone, Osbaldeston
Start Point: Mellor Village Hall car park Grid Reference: SD 654 308
Distance: 7.6 miles Ascent: 681 feet
Time: 4 hours
Weather: Sunny spells
Comments: Some of this walk was on tarmac track but the sections through woodland were difficult to navigate and the footpaths were in a very poor state. However the section beside the River Ribble was delightful. It may be wise to reroute around Mercyfield Wood if repeating the walk.

Looking across the Ribble Valley to Longridge Fell and the Chipping fells

Many years ago . . .

my daughter brought her horse here . . .

but it is now much bigger and more modern

Osbaldeston Hall is a Grade II listed building dating from about 1600

Looking east along the River Ribble . . .

then heading west past a few groups of ducks . . .

and a beach like area of stones

Continuing in a westerly direction . . .

we find the ideal spot for our lunch break . . .

where Luna has a good rest . . .

and poses for the camera

but is this my best side?

A handy bench provides another good spot for a break on our return ascent
