Wild Swimming in Blea Tarn

Wild water swimming didn't seem the ideal activity for the beginning of September in the Lake District. However, this was the plan and fortunately reasonable weather was forecast.

Preparations took some time as towels, robes, wet suits, 'water shoes', etc. etc. were gathered for some whilst others just had towels and bathing costumes!!

The route through bracken was reasonably good and the ascent quite gradual. Brief stops were needed to take in the views of Hardnott Pass and the surrounding fells.

Near the start of the walk . . .

a couple of sheep . . .

and another watch our progress

The dogs are eager . . .

to head up the path . . .

as Juno takes the lead

Reaching Blea Tarn . . .

we are pleased to finish the climb

Time for a selfie . . .

and test out the water temperature

With wetsuits on . . .

it's time to get in the water . . .

as others are on their way out

It's a bit cold . . .

so its time . . .

for a quick dive

I don't think . . .

Barnaby wants to join us . . .

so we go in without him

Hurray . . .

we made it!!

Back at the house . . .

it's time to celebrate
