A Trip to Pooley Bridge
13/03/2026 to 15/03/2026
| A special weekend when I was invited to join Paul and Jeanette for a trip to the Lake District in their motor home. Travelling to Pooley Bridge the campsite was found overlooking Ullswater. The next day we were very fortunate that the wind had dropped and the sun was shining. We walked into Pooley Bridge where there was time for lunch before catching the steam boat to Howtown. Walking back along the road we reached a lakeside footpath to take us back to the campsite. The next day saw the weather return to wind and rain but that didn't affect our activites as we were heading back home. A great weekend with many thanks to Paul and Jeanette for their generous hospitality and time. |

Time for lunch in Pooley Bridge . . .

where Paul uses the bridge as a background for his drink

As the jetty comes into view it looks like the ferry hasn't arrived yet

Making our way along Ullswater . . .

it's difficult to identify the fells . . .

on each side of the lake . . .

and in the distance

Thankfully there is still some blue sky . . .

Looking back as we approach our destination . . .

and wait to disembark

Overlooking Ullswater . . .

the motor home is perfectly placed

to enjoy the view. . .

Early morning rainbow . . .

and an endangered tree!!
