Low Fell & Fellbarrow
Starting from Maggie’s Bridge we walked past Crummock Cottages at Foulsyke, where we had stayed a couple of years ago. After making our way through the woods we started the climb up to Low Fell. Following the exertions of the previous day this very steep climb needed a number of stops on the way. Low Fell was an ideal spot for morning coffee. The route undulated as we continued on to Fellbarrow, at the top of yet another climb. From here the indistinct path took us down to a farm track and on to Loweswater.  A pleasant path took us alongside the lake and back to the car. It was then decided to climb Rannerdale Knotts before returning to the lodge.

Rannerdale Knotts
Spotting the direct path up to the summit of Rannerdale Knotts we decided to opt for the short route as a change from following the route from Buttermere.  Though a little tricky in places this route was a good one and looked like it had been upgraded recently with boulder steps on the steep sections. After a brief wander around the summit, and time spent taking photos, we retraced our steps to make our way back down to the car and headed into Buttermere for a well-earned 'afternoon tea'.
