We left the hotel at 9am to take the coastal route to Cala de Deią. Initially the route was along a good track but eventually the path became narrow and difficult to navigate. Fallen trees blocked the route which was also eroded in places. There were good views along the coast when breaks in the trees allowed. The restaurant and café at Cala de Deią offered meals and snacks. The beach was mainly large rocks and smaller stones. We spent an hour here, giving time for a swim - enjoyed by two of the group. From here we took the main route towards Deią before turning off to walk the high route back to Puerto de Sóller. This was mainly a good path, again through trees. We made a pleasant stop at a villa which served freshly squeezed orange juice and delicious cake. Suitable refreshed we joined the outward path and arrived back at 5.50pm, somewhat later than expected. |

The first view of Puerto de Sóller . . .
as we follow a good path . . .
past ancient olive trees
Higher up a more open view . . .
gives the opportunity for a group shot
Much of the hillside is terraced . . .
but we finally pass a flat area planted with olive trees
Houses seem to be precariously balanced overlooking the coast
The stiles are not quite up to our standard . . .
and fallen trees litter the route
We are heading towards the headland . . .
just beyond the three rocks . . .
but the beach is well below us
Cala de Deią
More terracing on the way back - but not much growing
The sun highlights a rocky headland
Time for a break . . .
and a freshly squeezed orange juice
Donkey or mule?
