Setting out from Monjo we are sad that this will be the last day of the trek but are looking forward to the comfort of the Shangri-La, providing the planes are able to take off the next day! Retracing the path we took on our first day we crossed the river a couple of times before stopping for lunch at Phakding. Then it's off again along the dusty track before tackling the steep climb back to Lukla. Navigating our way through the main street lined with shops we eventually reached the Himalaya Lodge for our last night on the trek. Unfortunately it wasn't one of the batter tea huts and we were keeping our fingers crossed that we wouldn't have to stay for more than one night! |
Heading out through the valley . . .
but a pause is needed for the mule train to ascend the rocky steps
Looking back up the valley . . .
the views are still great
There are a lot more flowers in bloom than when we passed this bush the first time
Is that a lawn I can see?
Well, it's a patch of something green!
The water rushes over the rocks
Time for lunch - but this tea house is a little more 'up market' than other we stopped in
How did they build that!
One of our Sherpas enjoys a kick around with some youngsters
Really!!!!!
Gathering on the terrace at the end of the trek . . .
and a last shot of the Boys before they leave us
