The first visit of the day was to the museum where there was a Mauri show but unforunately I had left my camera in my backpack which had to be left in a locker. It was an enjoyable concert but no photos. I then found St Mary's Church, which used to be the Cathedral, and which was made completely out of wood. It had been moved from across the road and the new Cathedral was built right next to it.
The original cathedral . . .
now sits next to the new cathedral . . .
which can be seen above the roofline
The first half of the new cathedral is very traditional
but the second half is more contemporary
The cathedral is renowned for its modern stained glass . . .
including a unique window featuring a Polynesian Christ . . .
with vividly coloured Pacific motifs
