After leaving our luggage at the hotel Eileen, Sally and I headed out to locate the station for the Fløibanen Funicular, Scandinavia's only cable railway. With tickets quickly purchased we were soon on our way to the new viewing platform at the summit station 320 metres above sea level. Coffee and cake in the cafe set us up for an energetic walk across the summit plateau, checking out the lakes and huts on the way to Brushytten, the last hut before heading up the mountains. Returning to Fløyen, the summit station, we opted for the zig-zag route back down to Bergen. After settling into the hotel rooms it was time for our pre-dinner meeting followed by an introduction to Norwegian cuisine.

The funicular arrives at the station . . .
and we are soon taking in the views . . .
over Bergen . . .
and the tracks we travelled up on
Heading out on the blue route we arrive at Skomakerdiket . . .
where the still water provides great reflections . . .
and a bird poses for the camera
Continuing on the red route the sound of bells preceded the sheep . . .
who are anxious to pass us quickly
Having returned by the green and yellow routes we decide to walk down to Bergen . . .
taking in wooden sculptures on the way
The elevated road gives a good view down to the harbour and some tall ships . . .
