Comments: | Known to be one of the best ridge walks in the country, the Great Ridge walk gives stunning views over Edale, Hope Valley and even the edge of Kinder Scout. It was much busier than when we were last here in 2013 we found parts of the route much improved. |
Heading up Cave Dale which was initially formed by glacial meltwater carving a deep narrow valley in the local soluble limestone.
From the summit of Mam Tor . . .
there are good views into the Edale Valley, the starting point of The Pennine Way
A flagged path starts the descent . . .
to Hollins Cross the lowest point on the ridge . . .
and where paths cross from one side to the other as well as along the ridge
Heading up to Back Tor . . .
to look back along the ridge and into the Edale Valley
Rocky outcrops are available . . .
for those wishing to access them!
Lose Hill marks the end of the ridge
