We caught the bus to the head of the Stubai Valley. From here we travelled by gondola to Station Eisgrat and on to Shaufeljoch to walk up to the viewing platform. There were great 360 degree views but it was very busy. We then walked across to the Jochdohle, the highest mountain restaurant in the Austria. We took a long break here while some of the group climbed the Kleinor Isidor, a rocky scramble with fixed cables most of the way. We then walked (or ran) down a snowy path to the Station Eisgrat. From here we descending by gondola to the Dresdner Hut where we had our lunch. After an initial climb and a service road section we headed off onto a delightful path that contoured and climbed around the mountainside. Eventually we began the descent on an unpleasant rocky and sometimes wet path. Reaching the station in record time we just managed to catch the next bus back to Fulpmes. (The driver really couldn't set off with Al standing in front of the bus!) |

Heading up in the cable car
The views from the viewing platform . . .
are spectacular . . .
in all directions
It's pretty busy up here . . .
but I manage to find a quiet spot for this photo
A short walk takes us down to . . .
Jochdohl, the highest restaurant . . .
in Austria
While we take it easy, Al and Jane, our leaders . . .
check out the climb . . .
to Kleinor Isidor . . .
and zooming in gives a pretty good idea . . .
of what it is like
The climb gets rather busy as we make our way . . .
down the snowy slope . . .
to Station Eisgrat . . .
where the early birds take to the shade . . .
rather than the deck chairs
A miniature water wheel welcomes us . . .
to the Dresdner Hütte . . .
where we take another break before heading out on a panorama path . . .
but first we have to cross a snow bank - where Al catches me on camera
Great views down the valley . . .
and across the mountain tops . . .
make this route . . .
an absolute delight . . .
and it's worth taking time out . . .
to take it all in
Time for a quick shot of the milky waters of the glacial melt before catching the bus back to the hotel
