Walk: Whittle Spinney, Denham Hill, Leeds & Liverpool Canal, Top Lock Bridge, Croston Farm, Cuerden Valley
Start Point: Home Grid Ref: SD 575 225
Distance: 8 miles Ascent: 900 feet
Weather: Dry but dull with snow and ice underfoot Time: 4 hours
Comments: With snowy conditions, and no group walk planned, Phil and I decided on a local walk to Denham Hill and the Leeds & Liverpool Canal. Where the snow was compacted it was quite slippery but these sections could be easily bypassed. There was a cold wind in exposed areas but on the whole it was a pleasant day. The wintery scene can be compared with the same walk on a sunny day on 2nd December 2012.
