| Walk: | Robin Lane, Jenkin Crag, Ambleside, Stockghyll Woods, Wansfell Pike, Nanny Lane, Troutbeck Church | ||
| Start Point: | Church Bridge, Troutbeck | Grid Reference: | NY 412 027 |
| Distance: | 8 miles | Ascent: | 2,370 feet |
| Time: | 4 hours | ||
| Weather: | Mild with some short spells of light rain. Very strong wind on the higher sections of the walk. | ||
| Comments: | The original intention was a walk from the Kirkstone Pass but as the higher fells were in mist I returned to Troutbeck to repeat this popular route. Approaching the summit of Wansfell Pike the wind was very strong, making it difficult to remain standing at times. Consequently I followed the main path down to Troutbeck rather than continuing across to the Wainwright summit. | ||

Heading into Stockghyll Woods . . .

past the weir . . .

I take the path to the left of the waterfall . . .

for a close up view of the upper left fall

Stock Ghyll runs under the bridge . . .

before disappearing over the waterfall to eventually join the River Rothay

From the opposite side . . .

all parts of the waterfall can be seen

As I start the climb, Wansfell Pike is hidden in mist . . .

and on the summit the wind nearly blows me off my feet
