Walk: Leeds & Liverpool Canal, Eshton Road, Flasby, Hetton, Moor Lane (track), Hetton Common, Weets Top, Calton Moor, Calton, Pennine Way, Eshton Moor
Start Point: Gargrave free car park Grid Reference: SD 932 543
Distance: 15 miles Ascent: 1,820 feet
Time: 6.25 hours
Weather: Mild with sunny spells and a cold wind in exposed areas.
Comments: Despite the forecast the rain stayed away and the sun made frequent appearances. The walking was easy on clear tracks and field paths. With only gradual ascents and descents we made good time on this 15 mile walk.

No, we're not starting off with a prayer, just listening to Ian as he explains the route

Starting off beside the Leeds & Liverpool Canal,

we take advantage of the bridge . . .

to cross near the locks

Maybe we should have this when we are on the roads

Some of the group disappear into the Wine Cave . . .

and look a lot happier . . .

as they emerge . . .

with smiles on their faces!!!

Choosing a spot for lunch

Passing a lovely display of thistles . . .

where one becomes the focus for a photo

Checking out the views . . .

at Weets Top

Some handy rocks . . .

provide a good spot for lunch in Calton

Robb inspects the rocks which seem to have been machine cut

Emerging onto the road for the last stretch . . .

to the car park - still smiling!
