Walk: Hareden Farm, Whitemore, Long Knotts, Fair Oak, New Laund, Burholme Bridge, Dunsop Bridge
Start Point: Trough Road Lay-by Grid Reference: SD 646 505
Distance: 9.2 miles Ascent: 1,184 feet
Time: 4.25 hours
Weather: Sunny to start becoming overcast in the afternoon
Comments: Five Ramblers members joined me for this walk for the Fylde Ramblers Group walk. The long initial ascent was followed by undulating footpaths which incuded some stony and wet sections.

A brief pause after the long initial climb, looking further into the Trough of Bowland

First Aid Post, probably belonging to a nearby Adventure Centre

Forunately we didn't have to navigate this gully

Heading into Whitemore woodland . . .

where growth and destruction can be seen . . .

as we descemd through the trees . . .

to open fellside for our first stop

Looking back from Long Knotts, Whitemore is in the central distance with Totridge Fell on the left

Our path should go through this field but we decide to take a farm track skirting around it!

The cheese press . . .

at New Laund Farm . . .

plus a new use for a water trough

Langden Intake joins the River Hodder as we follow the river to Dunsop Bridge . . .

where the 100,00th telephone box marks the centre of Great Britain

Afternoon siesta
