Walk: Read Old Bridge, Read Park, Shady Walks, Lamb Row, Wiswell, Deer Park Wood
Start Point: Whalley Spring Wood car park £1 fee, card only or ring given number. Grid Reference: SD 740 360
Distance: 7.3 miles Ascent: 1,236 feet
Time: 3 hours
Weather: Sunny and quite hot
Comments: This walk was designed to check out part of a route for the Group. The section going into Wiswell will be changed. This was a very pleasant walk with lots of variety and good views. (The footpath at Lamb Row is next to the houses and looks like it could be part of the property.)

Leading from Whalley down to . . .

Read Old Bridge where, in 1643, a small force of Roundheads defeated a Royalist force which was perhaps ten times as large.

The large bridge spans a very small brook!

Just after New Hall Stables the public footpath passes over this unusual stile rather than the gate just before it
