Comments:

This section of the Arran Coastal Path would have been 14 miles long, mainly along the road apart from the old Postie's path near the beginning. Our plan took us on the old postie's path to Catacol then on the bus to Rowanbank Guest House. From there we walked back to the car park for the Machrie Moor Standing Stones. After exploring the standing stones we walked to Machrie Golf Club Tea House only to find that it was closed. As we had time to spare we walked on to the The Thyme Cafe at The Old Byre Visitor Centre for refreshments before returning toThe Machrie Tea Rooms where the taxi picked us up to take us back to Lochranza.

Must be a waiting game!

A great place to buy lunch in Lochranza

and descends to Catacol . . .

situated in a small bay

Catacol Row . . .

known as the 12 Apostles . . .

each cottage having a different window design . . .

the theory being that the fishermen's wives . . .

could signal with oil lamps to their husbands . . .

while they were out in their boats

The first circle of granite bouders . . .

on the Isle of Arran . . .

is followed by a double circle . . .

Do four stones make a circle?
