Walk: A walk with a difference - - - - watching family and friends take part in a Tuff Mudder event.
Start Point: Heaton Park, Manchester
Distance: 6.6 miles
Weather: Mainly fine but some short sharp showers
Comments: As shown through the photographs below, the contestants follow a course to tackle a number of obstacles from crawling through mud to climbing "Everest". It's all about working as a team and helping each other to complete the course. Everyone is a winner and receives a T shirt, headband and drink. Unfortunately the contestants were a lot faster than the spectators and it was only possible to capture a few of the obstacles.

Just for starters . . .

but the top is the hardest

The team gathers . . .

for a group shot . . .

and we're all smiling . . .

as we head off . . .

to tackle the first obstacle

Time for a break . . .

as we wait our turn . . .

to navigate the Minefield . . .

Getting down . . .

and dirty . . .

checking the height . . .

of the barbed wire . . .

but the mud . . .

makes it difficult . . .

to haul yourself along . . .

and it just gets worse . . .

as you approach the finish . . .

to wait for the rest of the group . . .

as they take a moment . . .

to smile for the camera . . .

before joining the rest of the group

The Electric Eel . . .

isn't just a simple swim!

It also has electric wires . . .

dangling down . . .

so it is a relief . . .

to reach the end!

Watching our footsteps through more mud . . .

as we make our way . . .

to the next obstacle

Approaching Everest . . .

a good run is needed . . .

to make it to the top . . .

where hands are waiting . . .

to help us up the last bit

Twinkle Toes . . .

needs concentration . . .

once we've got up the slope . . .

but some of us soon lose our balance

Time for another run . . .

but spectators can enjoy a pleasant walk through the woods

Pyramid Scheme . . .

where hay bales and willing helpers . . .

guide us up the slope . . .

where hands reach out . . .

to give us a final boost

Mudderhorn . . .

where brave comrades . . .

help us on our way . . .

to reach the metal grid. . .

and another competitor . . .

follows the process . . .

and tackles the climb . . .

up . . .

up . . .

and . . .

over!

Now to collect our 'prizes' . . .

T shirts and headbands . . .

before celebrating . . .

with the rest of the group . . .

and make sure we show . . .

that we have finished!!

But the question is - - - will we do it again next year???
