Francavilla in Sicily
14/04/12 to 21/04/12
61 miles, 15,156 feet of ascent, 14,708 feet of descent
Sicily is the largest of the Mediterranean islands
and is steeped in history having been home to Greek, Roman, Arab and
Norman civilisations. Francavilla is a typical Sicilian town in the
Alcantara Valley near to the northern slopes of My Etna.
With two levels of walks and two leaders
everyone was able to enjoy walking at their own pace and take time
out for photos, etc. Sometimes walking straight from or to the hotel,
and sometimes taking local transport or the hotel bus, we were able
to enjoy a variety of walks with great views in all directions.
This being another 'Al & Jane Adventure' (Al & Jane being the
leaders I have walked with before) I knew we were in for a good time
but the added bonus was a great group with everyone being really
friendly.
